Novels & Anthologies

My début novel The House at Zaronza is set on Corsica in the early 20th century and at the Western Front during World War I. It was published in 2014 by Crooked Cat Publishing.

My second novel, The Corsican Widow, is also set on Corsica and in Marseille in the mid-late 18th century. Watch this space for publication details.

I have also contributed short stories to numerous anthologies.

  1. I have read and enjoyed the House of Zaronza. I did learn a great deal about the family life in the 1920’s and loved the way the island was described. It must be very beautiful with lovely aromas! I thought the story dwelt too long on the horrors of the 1st World War. It almost spoilt the story. Nevertheless I did think it was beautifully constructed and the conclusion believeable.

    • Thank you for taking the trouble of leaving a comment, Pam, and for your kind words about The House at Zaronza. Getting the balance right when writing about wartime is not easy, as you can probably imagine. Interestingly, there are some who think it didn’t dwell enough on World War I! If you haven’t been to Corsica, I recommend a visit. Best wishes, Vanessa
